Heritage, Vision & Strong Roots
Founder Gerald Gutmann relocated from Austria to Bangalore in 2019, bringing with him over 30 years of expertise in architecture, interior design, and landscaping. With an intuitive understanding of how space shapes experience, his journey has taken him across Europe (Italy, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and beyond), the Middle East (Dubai, Kuwait, Jordan), and Africa, immersing himself in the essence of diverse architectural traditions.
His deep connection with India's architectural heritage—having traveled to Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi, Pondicherry, Kannur, Calicut, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Agra, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Dimapur—has reinforced his philosophy that architecture should not just be seen but felt.
Inspired by the organic simplicity of Mediterranean architecture and its striking parallels with South Indian vernacular design, Studio Coromandel embraces courtyards that breathe, sun-drenched textures, locally sourced materials, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. The fusion of these elements creates harmonious, soulful spaces that are both timeless and deeply rooted in cultural storytelling.
